What is Yamaha’s Unified Brake System?
Yamaha’s Unified Brake System (UBS) is a front-rear linked braking system.
The basics of using the brakes on a motorcycle or scooter is to use both the front and rear brakes at the same time. The Unified Brake System was developed to assist the rider by providing a good balance of brake application. When the rear brake is operated, braking power is also suitably distributed and sent to the front brake, giving a good braking feel. The Unified Brake System is equipped on many models, from tourers to Leaning Multi-Wheelers (LMWs).
When riders stand on the pegs while riding unpaved roads on adventure bikes, it can be difficult to use just small amounts of rear brake. There is a Unified Brake System meant for that type of riding. Based on how strongly the front brake is applied, how fast the bike is traveling, etc., this system—governed via electronic control—sends a suitable amount of force to rear brake.
